Allergen & Food Information

Draft for review: this is business-configurable template content
prepared for The Tiffin. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer. Review and adapt it
before relying on it commercially.
1. Our kitchen
- The Tiffin operates a 100% vegetarian kitchen — no meat, fish or eggs are ever brought in or prepared.
- It is a shared kitchen: meals with different allergens are prepared in the same space with shared equipment. Cross-contact, while minimised, cannot be fully ruled out.
2. Allergen labelling
Every meal on the weekly menu lists the allergens it intentionally contains, from this set:
- Gluten — wheat rotis, semolina, some flours
- Dairy — ghee, paneer, curd, buttermilk
- Nuts — peanuts and tree nuts used in gravies and garnishes
- Soy — soya chunks, some sauces
- Mustard — mustard seeds and oil in tempering and pickles
- Sesame — seeds and oil in some dishes and chutneys
3. Dietary tags
Meals may also carry tags such as Jain friendly, No onion or garlic, High protein, Low oil, Seasonal and Chef's special. Tags describe the recipe as planned by the kitchen for that day.
4. If you have a severe allergy
- Talk to us before ordering. The menu labels intentional ingredients, but a shared kitchen is not an allergen-free environment.
- We will tell you honestly whether we can prepare safely for your situation — and equally honestly when we cannot.
5. Nutrition information
Calorie and macronutrient figures shown on menu cards are kitchen estimates for a standard portion, not laboratory measurements. Use them as a guide, not a medical reference. The Tiffin does not provide medical or dietetic advice.
6. Questions
Ask us anything about ingredients or preparation via Contact & Support — the kitchen answers allergy questions directly.
